Margo Murray

Our church owes a big thank you to Margo Murray who often fills in so admirably when Pastor Bob is not available. 

Their love of the ocean and scuba diving brought Margo and her husband to the Keys from Chicago 26 years ago. They subsidized their income by
working in the dive industry here as they transitioned into retirement. Margo admits “I had to overcome the fear of water to
become a scuba diver… it’s amazing what God can do when you include him in the equation.”

Margo feels blessed to have been raised in a Christian home with a mom to instill great values.  While a great “preacher” Margo is not an ordained minister.  By profession… she was a hair stylist.  She is a part time water aerobics instructor and fitness trainer now. Margo, a grandmother with 13 grandchildren and another on the way, often fills in at her own church, Marathon Community UMC, and at the Kirk of The Keys, as well as helping us out.

“I always knew Jesus wanted me for a sunbeam… remember that song? I made a promise to God years ago saying, whatever you want I’m yours, and he has led me to levels I never anticipated, including preaching.”

With Pastor Bob on vacation for several weeks in August and September of 2019, our church was blessed to have Margo as our sunbeam!
